How to move to Costa Rica:
There are many ways to move to Costa. For example- You can enter the country as a temporary resident or permanent resident on a tourist visa; or after receiving a permit for studying, working and volunteering.
Tourist visa
When tourists and travelers from countries like the United States, Canada, etc., enter Costa Rica, they are granted a tourist visa of up to 90 days. You have to leave the country after these 90 days are up.
But, in case you want to stay in Costa Rica for more than 90 days, then you will have to leave Costa Rica, enter another country and then re-enter Costa Rica for a new 90-day visa. Keep in mind that as a tourist, you will not be permitted to work here unless you have a location-independent job that lets you do work anywhere.
Work permit
There are some trades that the government of Costa Rica provides priority to and one can find a complete list by searching on Gogogle. Outsiders will be able to get work permits only if their future companies are able to prove that there are no Costa Rican qualified or available enough to fill in the position. Also, a work permit can be issued to employees and businesspersons who are able to justify, to the Immigration Department, their qualifications and skills are needed in the country. It will let you live in the country as long as your employment contract is legal.
Volunteer permit
Before applying for a volunteer permit, you have to get accepted into a volunteer program. Also, you need to show or present a certification that is issued by the volunteer program or signed by their legal representative. The certification must be describing the project you’ll participate in.
You can apply for a special temporary permit if being a perpetual traveler does not fit your needs. A temporary permit will allow you to study, work or volunteer in Costa Rica You need to submit a letter indicating why you are requesting a special permit. You’ll also require providing many documents and proof of employment/enrollment to the work, student, and volunteer specific letters.
